Welcome to Safeguarding at Unicorn Athletic JFC. We hope you find the information here useful and that it reinforces your confidence in our ability to safeguard our members.
We are committed to doing everything possible to ensure that the FA RESPECT code of conduct is inherently part of our club and that players, coaches, parents and spectators apply its principles when participating in club activities.
It’s of paramount importance to us that our members are safeguarded and we are continually striving to ensure that is the case. During the last 18 months we have raised the bar in terms of volunteer qualifications and identification. At the close of the 2018/19 season we implemented a minimum requirement of enhanced Criminal Records Check, FA Emergency Aid and FA Safeguarding Children qualifications for all volunteers coming into contact with our members. These qualifications are required to be refreshed on a 3 yearly basis and are funded by the club in club organised workshops conducted by FA approved tutors provided by Cheshire FA.
Getting everybody safely back to football in our new COVID environment was a challenge which the Unicorn committee embraced with gusto. As part of this effort we took the opportunity to implement an ID card system which clearly identifies qualified volunteers who have completed our COVID training. This form of identification will continue in the future with a modified version for general purposes going forward.
We have 3 designated Welfare Officers at Unicorn whose contact details can be found below. if you see, hear or are told anything that doesn’t seem right then please contact one of us and let us know. We will treat your enquiry in strict confidence and investigate your concerns in a timely and sensitive manner.
